November/December Program

Welcome to Living Learning’s November/December Program.  All workshops are located at the Mid Mountains Community Centre in Lawson and run from 11am-12 on Tuesday mornings, with time to share lunch and play afterwards.  For all bookings and enquiries contact Julie at  All workshops are Home Education Association Inc events.

Literature through Drama – 6 Tuesdays, starting 1st November

This 6 week program will take participants through two compelling picture books – Come By Chance by Madeline Winch and Two Summers by John Heffernan. We will explore the themes of friendship, belonging and our relationship to place through this dynamic and interactive approach to literacy. While it is fine if the children are familiar with these books, it is best that they do not re-read them prior to the program.  Suitable for all reading abilities.

Georgia is an actor who has performed for the Sydney Theatre Company, Bell Shakespeare Company and Ensemble Theatre as well in film and television. She has taught for the last 3 years in the joint Sydney Theatre Company and Sydney University project ‘School Drama’, teaching teachers how to use drama to enrich their literacy teaching, and she has also taught in schools for Bell Shakespeare. Georgia ran two programs for The Hub in 2010, introducing this style of work to both the junior and senior groups.

Please email Julie ( by the 20th of October to confirm you would like to attend.  Cost will depend on the number of participants, but should be around $80 or $90 for the program (which works out around $13 – $15 per week).  I will finalise the cost on the 2oth of October and payment can be made over the following week.  Register your interest as soon as possible, this is such a fantastic opportunity, it may book out!

Raw food Ice cream Party – 13th December

Our end of year celebration will be a delicious exploration of raw food possibilities.  Details will be published closer to the date but start thinking about freezing some of your favourite fruits and keep an eye out for some fancy dishes/glasses to make your spectacular desserts in.  The icecream will based pretty much wholly on fruit (no eggs, dairy, sugar or artificial additives), but ground nuts may be involved in toppings unless anyone has allergies?   There is talk of delicious healthy homemade raw chocolate sauce!  Will keep you posted.

Juggling bargain!

As we had fewer people than expected at last weeks juggling workshop I have a number of juggling scarf sets left over. They are $9  per set from the retailer but I can pass them on for $6 as I received a bulk discount.  Juggling scarves are an awesome way for children (and adults!) to practice the basics of juggling as they move slowly through the air and are easy to grab.  Let me know if you missed out on the workshop and would like a set!  I’m happy to demonstrate their use and can throw in a set of handmade juggling balls (or the materials to make them yourself if you prefer), also left over from the workshop.
