Message from the Mid Mountains Neighbourhood Centre

June 4, 2012

Hi everyone,

Laurie from the Mid Mountains Neighbourhood Centre (MMNC) asked me to pass this message on to the Living Learning email list.

MMNC is supporting the Paint the Blue Read Reading Week by organising an event in Lawson on Monday 18th June. Parents/carers and young children will meet at the Joy Anderson Room at 10am and meet Billy Booksie and be directed to shops around Lawson where they will be read too. It will finish by 11.30am. The aim is to emphasise that reading is everywhere. The shops involved are Leura Blumes, Ben Roberts Cafe, Lawson Chemist, Lawson Fire Brigade, Mountains Real estate and possibly Lawson Cake Shop. We are looking for older children who might be interested in reading to these children. We will choose the books based on the type of shop and the ability of the reader. Can you reply by this Tuesday afternoon next week if you have some children who may be interested?

Thanks

Laurie

If you have children who would be interested in reading to others on June 18th, please contact Laurie (details above) as soon as possible.

I am currently working on Living Learning’s Term 3 program, it should hopefully be out over the next week, as a sneak preview we are looking at; a visit from the police, a two week exploration of sculpture, a four week felting course, and a mathematics through story series.  I’m really excited about this program and will get it out to you within the week.

Best Wishes,

Julie
