Drama is a wonderful springboard for literacy work and this term, Georgia will run a 5 week series on the fabulous book Herb the Vegetarian Dragon. The drama strategies give us the opportunity to step into the characters shoes and the focus of the literacy work will be character development and narrative writing. A follow up writing exercise will be set each week and students will share a sentence of this work the following week. The book is an fun and engaging story for ages 7-11 and is about accepting people as they are.
The workshops will run in weeks 2 (16/10), 4(30/10), 5 (6/11), 6 (13/11) and 7 (20/11).
Georgia is an actor who has performed for the Sydney Theatre Company, Bell Shakespeare Company and Ensemble Theatre as well in film and television. She has taught for the last 3 years in the joint Sydney Theatre Company and Sydney University project ‘School Drama’, teaching teachers how to use drama to enrich their literacy teaching, and she has also taught in schools for Bell Shakespeare.  Georgia has run numerous ‘Literature through Drama’ programs for our homeschooling community which have been extremely well received.  Georgia also runs regular drama classes for homeschoolers on Tuesday afternoons in term time.

Help us make the day a success and pick up a free cuppa from the Teen Cafe as our way of saying thanks. Contact to let us know.
If your child would like a 10 minute spot in the open mic session to showcase their talents let me know asap and I’ll pass on your request to Jade who is our music/entertainment organiser for this event.

Hi. I was just wondering if you thought the police talk and drama would be suitable for jasper to attend. If so, I’d like to book him in. I just wasn’t sure if they would be too big for him.

He loved the maths today, he could have say trough heaps more of that. The guy was fabulous. Thanks for organising all this great stuff for the kids.

Hi Abby, the police talk will be fine for all ages, I’ll put your name down and double check with Georgia about the literature through drama. Last year she was fine with the younger ones giving it a go. I’ll save you a spot, and get back to you. Thanks for your feedback ❤
