Market Day 2013

October 27, 2013

Hi everyone,

Here is an update on the Market Day situation…..

The planning committee has been emailing back and forth like crazy, trying to come up with a workable scenario, given that it was impossible to meet last week and people are still easing back into a regular routine after recent events.

We really wanted to go ahead with Market Day on a different date, but there was concern that it would prove difficult to find a suitable date given that the end of the year is coming up fast and things get so busy. So our plan is this:

On Tuesday 29 October 11am-2pm, we will hold a low key event at Lawson Mid Mountains Neighbourhood Centre (MMNC) to celebrate Home Ed week – a “Mini Market & Picnic Day”! Bring a picnic, hang out with your local Home Ed community, debrief about the fires if you feel so inclined! Anyone and everyone is welcome to bring a blanket stall, if they have the energy and inclination. There will be no table stalls, and no fees for blanket stalls. Whatever we get is what we go with, but the main purpose is just to come together and hang out! We will be asking for donations on the day to cover the hire of the MMNC, any extra money we raise will be donated to the Fire Recovery. We will also be selling raffle tickets, raising funds for shared educational resources and community building events.

Also, separate to Mini Market Day…..

We aim to create a Homeschoolers end of year exhibition and performance event. A space where kids can display items they have worked on, and a concert of sorts for musical entertainment, maybe some skits, and anything else the community would like to share on stage! We will also draw the raffle that was intended for Market Day at this event. This is a very new idea, and as yet we have not decided on date or location… we will keep you posted!

HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL AT THE (low key, very relaxed) MINI MARKET & PICNIC DAY! Tuesday 29 October from 11am-2pm. BYO PICNIC!

Best wishes from,
Market Day Planning Committee
